The Marrakesh Treaty eases the creation and transfer across national boundaries of texts specially adapted for use by visually impaired people.

As from 1 January 2019 the European Union will effectively become a party to WIPO’s Marrakesh Treaty which was ratified last week, on 1 October.

It is a major advancement for visually impaired people in the EU and the organisations serving their needs as they will be allowed to enjoy books and other print material in accessible formats with third countries that are also parties to the treaty.
