The Geoblocking Regulation (EU 2018/302), adopted in February 2018, addresses unjustified geoblocking and other forms of discrimination based on customers’ nationality, place of residence or place of establishment within the internal market.
As part of its obligations under the Regulation, the European Commission has recently launched a call for proposals to contribute to its assessment as to whether the scope of the Geoblocking Regulation needs to be extended to audiovisual and non-audiovisual services giving access to copyright-protected content.
